Aktiv MP3 Recorder allows you to save in different formats any sound playing on your PC. No matter the sound source, this program will record it and save it as an audio file on your disk. It includes a feature to schedule sound recordings, so that you can get automatic recordings of TV shows, online interviews and conferences, etc., all saved as audio files for you to listen to later.
The program's user interface is fairly intuitive and easy to use. However, its visual design - and especially the color combination used - may appear to be boring and little attractive for many users. It allows you to select the volume level and set a maximum recording time in seconds, or you can leave it as zero for an unlimited recording. You can also tell the program what to do when a silence is detected - stop the recording, skip that silence, or split the recording to create separate audio files. In addition, you can select your sound device and input line, and define an output folder and a file name mask.
Finally, you should choose your desired output format among all those supported - WAV, MP3, WMA, Ogg, VOX, AU, and AIFF. Whatever format you choose, you also need to select the bit rate, the sample rate, and the number of channels. Now you can manually start, pause or stop the recording using the provided buttons. But, as stated before, you can also schedule recording tasks. To do so, you will be asked to provide a task name, the starting date and time, a repeat frequency in hours, days or months, and (optionally) a URL, in case the source of your desired sound is in the Internet. To top it all off, the program keeps an archive of your previous recordings, so that you can listen to, access or clear them very quickly.
